JANUARY 31, 2009

Husband came home last night from work not feeling well. It turned out that he had some food poisoning and I am really afraid it was from some soup that was in the freezer he had at lunch. I had never made this type of soup before and it was really good when it was fresh out of the pot and good when it was a week or two old. Now that it is a little over a two months old it must have out lived it's freezer life.
Note to self: Throw away the remaining soup containers.
Lucky for me once he got rid of it he was better. If you know what I mean.

Today was kind of a typical day here. Slept in which is kind of strange for me. I am usually an early riser 5:30-6:00 a.m. is my usual time. It felt good to be a slug this morning. It was a regular old morning. We did finally get out of the house went to lunch and a new spot near the house. The place is called Five Guys Burgers and if you like them big and greasy, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, cheese and all the regular fixens then this the place for you. They make their fries from fresh potato's you can get with Cajan spices added to them (I recommend). The one problem you have allergies to peanuts then STAY AWAY. They cook everything in peanut oil. Once again my poor husband who should never have another peanut was told they cooked only the fries in peanut oil but later in the day you could tell they have a little of the oil getting onto the burgers. He has his usual rash that he gets from eating anything containing peanuts.  His life has been a little lacking in luster from his eating the last two days. Today's eating problem cannot be blamed on me. I wanted to try somewhere else but he wanted to try the one that was close. I guess close is not always the best option.

The day did improve though. We went and shaw Grand Toreno with Clint Eastwood. The one thing I will say about it is GO SEE IT. It was one of the best movies I have seen for awhile and it is well worth the time and money. Cheaper if you go to the matinee. I will not tell you anything about the movie because I don't want to ruin it for you.

The day finished with the usual stroll through Costco and a drive through the car wash. We are here spending a relaxing evening dinner is done I am having a cup of tea and the husband is resting with a Benadryl.

I will be signing off now and wish you a good evening.

ON WITH THE LIFE

Well now that I have bored you to tears with my first attempt to get this blog off the ground I guess I should just tell you about what went on today.

DOCTORS APPOINTMENT:

Why is it that you spend 95% of your time waiting for the doctor when you have an appointment with them? Had to go and have an old ankle injury examined. Nothing can be done at this point other than just be careful. So, after an hour and half and three x-rays I am out of there.

SHOPPING

Met my friend Janet at Stein Mart and did some shopping. The only time to really hit those discount places is when everything is reduced so low that you buy four item for just over $20.00 and you end up saving over $230.00 from full price. How does that happen? With this type of savings the markups must be 2,000 % or so. For example I bought a Ralph Lauren top for $2.06 what a deal. After shopping for the deals of the century we went to a little restaurant in the shopping center called Slide Rock. The food is great! We had the French Onion Soup with a side of the daily special pasta salad. It generally more than one person should eat but, when push and shove down the throat is enacted then it can be done. Lucky for us we did not use those tactics to finish our lunch. We are trying to be better eaters so we did not clean our plates of every morsel. For reals, it was very filling and we could have shared gaging from what was left on our plates.  I am not saying that we have not done the push and shove act, I am trying to lose a few pounds. It is the season for paying attention to our weight. After a big holiday season I know that I have added a few pounds onto the few pounds that I needed to lose last year.  So, to say I am big boned and a overweight would be a good way to describe me. I could take a major amount of your time with this train of thought but, I think I will save it for another day.

I will end now and look forward to where my thoughts and events proceed tomorrow here on Live in Celebration.

P.S. Remind me sometime to tell you about the Princess complex.

My name is Dorothy and I am 56 years old. I have been married for only 5 years. This is my first marriage and pray that it is the one and only. I was born and raised in Utah. I have no children my husband has two sons all grown and out of the house. One lives here in Utah and the other is in Denver.  So, you know a little about me and as time passes and I become comfortable with this process you will know what my life is like and what has shaped me into who I am.

This is my first posting and hope it is just the first of many. Not sure why I am doing this but it sounded like a good idea when my friend B mentioned it to me. So, stick with me and you will have a time of your life because one life is a passing of time with events marking its passing.
